Chapter 408 Chapter 408 Maleah's p.o.V.

Five years ago the Council of Elders gave their Scouts instructions to find out the identity of the Angel of Death, they didn't canywhere close to finding out who the Angel of Death is and it didn't stopfrom doing my job. I always make sure I stay out of sight and with my abilities that is not very difficult to do. My public job is also a very good way to hide in plain sight and I have had a lot of fun with the Scouts the Council of Elders sent after me.

They would revisit any place I had taken out a target and talked with everyone that was written down by the Enforcement agents, hoping to add a new nto their list. Each tthey would callto make an appointment, but with my busy schedule that was nearly impossible and I believe I only spoke to them on three occasions. None of them thought it was strange I appeared on every list they had and no one ever connected the dots.

Instead of letting one team investigate these cases, the Council of Elders handed them to a few different teams and they didn't share any information with one another. They were so focused on getting their own success that they never bothered looking at the big picture, they never thought about cross reverencing the lists of witnesses and there for they never saw the pattern in the names.

No one will be able to find the connection now, because when Harvey had the chance he made a few lists disappear and in scases only a part of the list. He burned every piece of paper he took and made sure he watched all of it burn to ashes, he didn't want a piece of paper to blow away or something else to happen to the burning papers.

"If the Council of Elders failed at finding out my true identity, what makes anyone else think they can find out?" I ask no one in particular and Mack pullseven closer to his body, he really doesn't like it when I bring up something that can getinto trouble. Fortune is enjoying all this cuddling and to tell you the truth so am I, it makesrelax more than I usual are able to do. With my job it is difficult to find a way to relax, but I think I have found it with Mack.

The entire day is spend talking about my abilities, my job as an Assassin and about the Spring Ball. Something Mack doesn't have to attend anymore and with my busy schedule for the weekend of the Spring Ball Mack decides he wants to cwith me, he wants to see what I do on a normal day as he calls it. I wonder if he will ever accompanyagain after followingaround for three days and seeing sof the Queens I have to deal with.

"Okay, let's have dinner in the main dining room. I think it is best if everyone sees that Mack has found his Mate and maybe sof the busy bodies in our Pack can inform your Mother about your appearance in the main dining room. I mean, I doubt anyone has ever seen you in the main dining room in ages and when she hears you are chummy with the Alphas..." Dillon doesn't get to finish his sentence as Dax smacks him on the back of his head.

"That is the worst idea you have ever had, Dillon. Those busy bodies will tell Tara that she found her Mate and that might complicate things a lot more." Dax says. "Maleah will sit next toat the dinner table with Mack on her other side and we will discuss the Spring Ball during dinner, speculate on who might find their Mate." Mack is nodding his head and I think Dax is right about someone informing my Mother aboutfinding my Mate.

It won't change the fact that I did find my Mate, but it will make it more memorable if I show up at Diablo's funeral with a mark on my neck. We are about to leave the Alpha floor when there is a knock on the door and I see an Omega hand Dillon an envelope, you can all guess what is inside the envelope. It is the invitation for Diablo's funeral and under normal circumstances our leadership wouldn't attend this funeral, but these are not normal circumstances.

"Dad, can you look after the Pack while we attend the funeral?" Dillon asks and I feel a lot better knowing that I will not attending this funeral alone. Elyse brings the conversation back to the Spring Ball as she opens the door to leave the Alpha floor and I hear the males around us groan as she starts talking about who will be attending. At sof the names every male softly growls and I giggle when Mack pullscloser to his side.

His hand is on my lower back when we walk into the main dining room and I see a lot of females looking in our direction, I listen to Elyse as we walk to the table for our High-ranking Pack-members. I also hear what is being said aboutas we walk through the dining room, What is Tara's Daughter doing here? Who is that with Luna Elyse? What is Mack doing next to her? And many more questions like that.

Mack pulls out my chair as Dax sits down on one side ofand once I am seated Mack sits down on my other side, placing his leg against mine. The most remarkable e question I keep hearing is, Who is she? I mean, are they really that stupid? I thought our Paék knew I was a world famous designer, but then again I am not wearing one of my haute couture outfits and my hair and make-up aren't done to perfection. Am I really that unrecognizable in plain clothes and with a bare minimum of make-up? As I enjoyed my dinner and the conversation at our table I kept my ears open to the conversations around us and one in particular caught my attention, a t

I know which herb she is talking about, it is an herb one of my ancestors described in one of the journals and it is as dangerous as it spunds No I don't have that herb in my possession and I never will because it is against the law to have it. I do know a recipe that will render the herb harmless and I know I will need a few ingredients I ran out off, Levi can get them foras a thank you for saving his ass.

"Mack, I need to talk to our leadership about something. I just don't feel up I to doing it tonight, do you think I can join your morning meeting for a few minutes?" I ask him through the mind-link.
