Chapter 434

Vespera nodded. Dominic walked over to the window and pulled the curtains. Then, he tried to push it open, but

it didn't budge. After inspecting it for a moment, he said, "It's locked."

Vespera was disappointed but only for a second. Her eyes lit up with a new idea. She said, "Smash the glass!"

Without waiting for a response, she turned and dragged a chair. Dominic raised his hand, wanting to stop her,

and called out, "Vera..."

Panting from effort, Vespera shoved the chair into his arms and said, "Smash it!"

Dominic looked at her, sweat clinging to her temples with a determined expression. He couldn't help but smile

and reached out to wipe away the sweat on her forehead. She said, "You truly are a woman of action. You're so

impressive."

Vespera scowled. Why was Dominic spouting nonsense at this time?

Sensing her rising irritation, Dominic quickly softened his tone and said, "It's a good idea, but we aren't here to

make enemies. We shouldn't act too rashly. Breaking something could backfire.

Backfire? Vespera tried to process the word, but her mind wasn't working properly as she was currently irritated

and slow.

Suddenly, a flash of movement outside the window caught her eye, and a muffled thud followed.

Vespera was frightened. She pointed at the window, and her knees buckled.

Dominic caught her just in tand said, "It's alright. Sit down on the couch for a second. I'll go and take a look."

But Vespera clung to his shirt, refusing to let go.

Dominic said, "Alright. We'll go together. Don't be scared. It'll be fine."

Dominic led Vespera to the window. Since it wouldn't open, they could only peer through the glass. Outside, just

barely visible, was a woman's leg and the hem of a cyan gown.

Vespera remembered that the wealthy Jitanese woman from before had worn a cyan gown earlier that night. She

had even knocked on their door not long ago, and now, she had fallen from upstairs?

Vespera's face turned ghostly pale. Dominic covered her eyes and said, "Don't look."

Dominic pulled the curtains closed and guided Vespera back to the couch. Her heart pounded as she asked, "Is

she dead?"

Dominic shook his head. His expression was cold. He didn't feel guilty for not opening the door moments ago and

seemed to be deep in thought.

Just then, a knock cat the door, followed by a polite male voice. He said, "Mr. Reid, Ms. Gildon, please

proceed to the hall in the center of the second floor in five minutes."

Vespera thought, "Someone just fell to their death, yet the butlers and maids didn't notice?"

Dominic answered calmly, "Got it."

Five minutes later, Domininc and Vespera stepped out of the room. Calvert and Gerard also cout of the

room next door. Both of their expressions looked ghastly.

Vespera didn't take a closer look at Calvert and Gerard because she was still reeling from the horrific scene

outside the window. She thought that things hadn't gotten too out of hand since they seemed fine aside from

their ghastly expressions.

Across the corridor, Evelyn and Vance stepped out too. They looked like they were enemies. It was unknown as

to what had happened as she rolled her eyes in disgust. On the other hand, Vance looked disheveled and pitiful.

The rest of the guests also stepped out, one room after another. Slooked great, while the others looked

numb or filled with aggression.

And with every door that opened, an indescribable scent grew heavier, making people gag. It seemed that

everyone had been affected. What was more terrifying was that they were all gathered now.

The male guests were openly ogling the women, eyes filled with hunger. Meanwhile, the women either seemed

on the verge of an emotional breakdown or moved like puppets on invisible strings.

The atmosphere pulsed with tension. Everyone gathered in the hall on the second floor, and whispers began

rippling through the group.

"Did anyone else hear a thud just now?"

"I think I did, but I was kind of distracted. | didn't know where the sound cfrom."

"| saw something."

too. It was a person. | saw a hand."

The murmurs turned to nervous chatters. Dominic and the others remained silent, listening carefully.

Vespera had a bad headache. She lowered her head and rubbed her temples. When she glanced up, her gaze

locked in a direction, and she immediately had goosebumps.
