Chapter 12: The Trap
Chapter 12: The Trap
(Elena’s POV)
Evening shadows stretched across the Northern Territory Central Healing Institute as | finished organizing my
patient files. The day’s humiliation still burned in my chest like silver polson.
Sophia appeared at my office door, carrying a stack of official documents. Her smile was sickeningly sweet
“Elena, | need you to handle something important,” she said, placing the papers on my desk. “There's a dinner
meeting tonight about the new pack medical facility construction project.”
| frowned, scanning the documents. They looked legitimate, bearing official territorial seals.
“You'll be negotiating with territorial officials,” Sophia continued. “It’s crucial for securing funding
“Why aren’t you handling this yourself?” | asked suspiciously.
Sophia's expression turned apologetic. “Marcus specifically said all your work now falls under my
supervision. This is part of your new responsibilities.”
My hands clenched into fists. Marcus had used his Alpha influence to placeunder her authority. The
humiliation cut deeper than any physical wound.
“Fine,” | said through gritted teeth. “Where's the meeting?”
“Silver Moon Hotel, fifth floor, private room 503, Sophia replied, her eyes gleaming with something | couldn't
identify. “Seven o'clock sharp.”
The Silver Moon Hotel's fifth floor felt eerily quiet as | approached room 503. Something felt wrong, but |
pushed down my instincts.

| knocked and entered, expecting to see territorial officials in business suits. Instead, several unfamiliar men
turned to stare atwith predatory gazes.
A blue-shirted man with a crew cut and yellowed teeth blocked my path to the door. “Well, well. You're even
prettier than promised.”
Terror shot through my veins. 1 think there's been a mistake. I'm here for a business meeting.”
The men laughed crudely. One of them waved a wad of cash. “We paid good money for your company tonight
sweetheart.”
The realization hitlike a thunderbolt. The documents were genuine, but the dinner was an elaborate trap.
Sophia had orchestrated this entire nightmare.
“Letleave,” | demanded, backing toward the door.
The blue-shirted man grabbed my arm. “Not so fast. We haven't had our fun yet.”
They forced a glass of red wine to my lips. | struggled, but their grip was too strong. The alcohol burned down my
throat as | choked and gasped.
When one man reached forwith filthy hands, | grabbed an empty bottle and smashed it over the blue-shirted
man’s head. Glass shattered, and he howled in pain.

| bolted from the room, my heart pounding like a war drum.
The hotel corridors blurred as | ran, the alcohol makingdizzy and weak. My legs felt like lead, and my
vision swayed dangerously.
| collapsed in the hallway, tears streaming down my face. “Help me! Please, someone help?”
Hotel staff hurried past, their eyes averted. No one wanted to get involved in pack politics,
The blue-shirted man appeared around the corner, blood trickling from his scalp. His eyes burned with rage.
“You little b***h,” he snarled, raising his hand to strike.
Suddenly, Nathan Sterling appeared with two bodyguards. His usually carefree expression was deadly
senous
“Touch her and die, Nathan commanded, his voice carrying unexpected Alpha authority.
The blue-shirted man hesitated, recognizing the Sterling family crest on Nathan's jacket.
Nathan's bodyguards restrained the man while Nathan knelt beside me. “Elena, are you hurt?”
“Who hired you?” Nathan demanded of the blue-shirted man.
The man spat blood. “Someone with powerful backing. | can’t afford to cross them.”
Though he wouldn't nnames, | already knew the answer. Sophia had orchestrated this entire ordeal,

As we prepared to leave the hospital, | spotted a familiar black sedan parked at the main entrance.
