While Rebecca was thinking about all of this, she was already in the car.

After Marcus threatened her, Rebecca didn’t dare make any reckless moves. She just didn’t want to bring trouble
to her mom, who was about to wake up, or Jessica and everyone else.
Maybe Jeffrey was just saying that, but Marcus and Candice definitely weren't joking. With the way they were,
they could really do stuff that would cross every line one could imagine.
Jeffrey heard about it quickly. Gregory was giving him an update. “Ms. Jensen was taken away by your parents,
and they'll probably get to the Hanson residence in about half an hour.”
“Just leave it,” Jeffrey said coolly, barely giving it any emotion.
‘She wants a divorce so badly,’ Jeffrey thought. ‘Then she has to start learning to live without me.
‘If she can’t even handle this, how's she supposed to deal with Marcus and Candice pestering her for a child over
and over again in the future?”
“Got it,” Gregory replied.
Gregory was just about to leave when Jeffrey suddenly sprang up from his seat, his face clouded with gloom.
“Gregory, get Riley. We're heading to the Hanson residence,” Jeffrey said, his tone cold.
Gregory just nodded, like he'd totally expected this. “Okay.”
When Marcus and Candice pulled up at the Hanson residence with Rebecca, Jeffrey arrived around the same
time.
Jeffrey watched Rebecca being led inside by the bodyguards, his gaze growing serious. Riley, standing beside
him, couldn't help but tease, “If you're so worried, why not get out and stop them yourself?”
Jeffrey just pressed his lips together, saying nothing. If he really did step in, it would only make Rebecca's words
ring true. “Do you have any self-respect at all?” Rebecca’s voice echoed in his mind.
Jeffrey finally said, “Getthe live surveillance from the Hanson residence. | want eyes on everything
happening there.” Riley did exactly what he asked.
Rebecca wandered around the Hanson residence for a long time. She moved through the front yard, crossed the
corridor, and finally found herself by the clear lotus pond in the backyard.
“Ready to sign now?” Marcus said, pushing the divorce papers towards her again. “Sign, and maybe we can talk.
If you don’t, I'll lock you in here for a while.”
Rebecca gave the pristine, crystal-clear pond a brief look, her answer crisp and unwavering. “No.”
Marcus's gaze was full of cold mockery. “Tough girl, aren't you? Let's see if you'll still have the guts to say that

“Mr. Hanson,” Rebecca said calmly, her phone set to record in her pocket, “letremind you. What you're doing
right now is illegal.”
Marcus couldn't care less. He gave a cold signal, and someone immediately shoved Rebecca straight into the
water.
The water exploded around her as she went in. If Rebecca hadn’t been a solid swimmer, she could've drowned
right then and there.
“Get in that water and hold her down,” Marcus barked at the bodyguard. “Let her catch a breath every twenty
seconds. Do it over and over until she signs.”
“Yes, sir,” the bodyguard replied and jumped straight into the pond.
Rebecca instinctively tried to swim away. She'd set her phone to record so she’d have proof later. She wasn’t
about to let this mess bite her down the line. But that didn’t mean she was okay with being brutalized like this.
She barely moved more than a few strokes before a rough hand yanked her back. Rebecca felt fingers gripping
her neck, shoving her straight down into the water. The panic and lack of air hit her all at once.
She kicked and clawed, desperate to break free, but the harder she fought, the tighter the grip becand the
harder it was to breathe.
The sound of escaping air mixed with bubbles rising nonstop to the surface. Rebecca’s hands thrashed
desperately. She might be a good swimmer, but with her neck pinned and her whole body shoved underwater,
she was completely powerless.
“If you change your mind, raise your right hand,” Marcus said coldly, his eyes fixed on Rebecca's wild struggle.
There was nothing but contempt in his gaze. “I can have him let you up.”
Rebecca ignored him. The suffocating pressure slammed into her, and Rebecca swallowed mouthful after
mouthful of cold water. The panic clawed at her so fiercely, and it felt like she was going to lose her mind.
Once her thrashing started to weaken, Marcus shot the bodyguard a cold look, and the guy instantly let go of
her.
Rebecca broke the surface, sucking in air like it was the last thing she’d ever do. But before she could even
recover, her neck was seized again, and she was shoved right back under.
There was nowhere to grab, nothing she could hold onto or push against. No matter how hard she tried to break
free, it was useless.
“I've got all day to wait for you out,” Marcus said coldly, eyes locked on Rebecca as she struggled in the water.
“All these bodyguards know their way in the water. If you ‘accidentally’ drown, we'll just say you slipped and
fell.”
Rebecca could tell he meant every word. ‘At least everything I’ve managed to record so far should be enough to
get Marcus dragged in for a full investigation,’ she thought, clinging to that tiny shred of hope.
But the real issue was timing. She thought, ‘If | fake signing the papers, will Marcus immediately push for the
divorce certificate with Jeffrey? If he does, even if he’s taken away after, untangling all this will still be a
nightmare

And what I've managed to film... Honestly, it’s not totally solid.’

If Marcus flipped the script and hit her with a charge of filming inside the residence, that'd be a whole new
nightmare for Rebecca.
As Rebecca’s mind churned, the suffocating lack of air left her head fuzzy and her thoughts spinning.
“Have you decided yet?” Marcus asked, dead serious.
Rebecca was hauled up again, sucking in air with ragged breaths. After being dunked twice, she could barely
catch her breath, and if this kept up, her strength would be gone soon. She was shoved right back under again.
The bodyguard was unbelievably strong. Rebecca kept struggling, but it didn’t matter. She couldn't break free.
Right at that moment, Jeffrey rushed over. When he saw Rebecca pinned underwater and unable to move, his
eyes narrowed sharply in alarm. Without even thinking, he tore off his suit jacket, tossed it aside, and leapt
straight into the water.
Gregory exclaimed, “Mr. Hanson!” His own eyes were wide with shock.
“Jeffrey!” Candice shrieked. Marcus's eyes widened in shock. They both knew that Jeffrey was terrified of water.
He'd been that way since he was a kid, and it had never changed.
Riley, with one hand in her pocket and a lollipop in her mouth, nudged the worried Gregory with her elbow.
“When Rebecca's out of the water, be ready to grab Jeffrey.”
Gregory was confused.
Riley could see it crystal clear. “Right now, he’s running on pure worry for Rebecca. As soon as she’s out of the
water, that fear of his is gonna crash down on him all over again.”
Rebecca was barely conscious, her mind a blur, when she heard someone shouting Jeffrey's name. Before she
even realized what was happening, strong arms pulled her out of the water. As the suffocating feeling finally
faded, she gulped in air, desperate and bewildered.
“Are you okay?” Jeffrey asked, clutching her tightly, his entire body soaked.
Rebecca kept gasping for breath, her whole body trembling and limp from the lack of air. It took her a while to
steady herself. “Why did you come?”
‘Wait, isn’t he terrified of water?’ Rebecca thought, confused.
Jeffrey saw how pale and shaken she was, and his heart clenched hard. “Let's get you out of here.”
Rebecca wanted to say she could swim to shore herself, but after trying to move her arms and legs, she realized
she was too weak. She had no choice but to let Jeffrey drag her along as they headed for land.
As soon as Jeffrey helped Rebecca onto solid ground, he felt his legs suddenly go heavy, like he couldn't
control them at all.
“Mr. Hanson,” Gregory called out, quickly reaching for him.

Jeffrey was genuinely terrified of water. Once he’d made sure Rebecca was safe, a wave of delayed panic
crashed into him. It was as if something was dragging him down.
Even when he tried to fight back, his body felt powerless and completely out of control. Good thing Gregory was
quick, grabbing Jeffrey and hauling him out of the water before he totally lost it.
“Jeffrey.” Candice cflying over to the pond, standing right on the marble path, eyes full of worry. “Are you
alright? Did
you get hurt? Why did you jump in? You're terrified of water.”
“And what about you two?” Jeffrey shot back, steadying himself with Gregory's help.
Marcus and Candice just stared at him, totally at a loss. “What are you talking about?”
Jeffrey looked over at Rebecca. Riley was busy drying her off. His voice was raw, every word punched out. “You
know how much Rebecca means to me. Why did you have to treat her like this?”
