Chapter 163
“You've taken a guess, so whatever | say, you're not going to believe it, Jeffrey replied with a laid-back tone.
“There's really no point inexplaining myself.”
“Whether | believe you or not is up to me,” Samuel pressed. “But whether you choose to answer, that shows
your attitude.”
Jeffrey shrugged. Tve already made my feelings clear to your mom.”
Samuel fell silent. He didn’t want to waste another word on Jeffrey.
While Samuel was questioning Jeffrey, Jessica was also grilling Rebecca. “What's up with you and Jeffrey? Why
was he still holding your hand?”
What really shocked Jessica was that Rebecca hadn't even pulled her hand away.
“He's still refusing to divorce me,” Rebecca said, gazing out the window as the breeze ruffled her hair.
“Wasn't that all settled before?” Jessica tried to recall. Then she asked, “Did you guys bring it up again in
Honnala?”
Rebecca felt a mess of emotions inside. “Yeah.”
“So, what did you guys actually talk about?” Jessica kept digging.
Rebecca started to say something, but as Jessica floored the gas pedal, she swallowed her words. “I'll tell you
when we get to your place.”
“You think | can’t handle a juicy story while driving?” Jessica shot back, clearly getting Rebecca’s point. “It’s not
your driving; it’s what happened. It’s crazy, like nothing you've heard before.” Rebecca leaned in, emotions
flashing across her face. “If | spill now, you'll definitely be swearing and speeding.
Jessica was curious, thinking, “Is there really anything crazier than Jeffrey keeping someone on the side?’
“I'm not trying to get myself killed here,” Rebecca quipped.
Jessica rolled her eyes.
Half an hour later, they finally made it to Jessica’s place. The moment they stepped through the door, Jessica
hopped out of her shoes and immediately pressed, “Alright, now | need details! How crazy was it?”
Rebecca let out a sigh and started spilling everything.
Rebecca never bought into that “keep marital problems private” nonsense. She knew she needed someone with
a clear head to help her sort through the mess. Jessica was her one and only choice.

Chapter 163
In just three minutes, Rebecca had spilled everything that had happened the previous night.

Jessica's mind was blown; she would've never guessed something like that was even possible. “You knowtoo
well. If you had filledin on the car, | would definitely have been freaking mad.”
Rebecca collapsed onto the couch, her head tipped back, completely wiped out.
“Jeffrey is such a bastard, Jessica cursed without mercy. She never went easy when it cto trashing him.
“Seriously, who does crap like that?”
Rebecca said, worried, “That's not bothering me. After Timothy's words, she was pretty sure Jeffrey had not let
Samuel walk into danger. She just couldn't figure out how he had made her believe he did.
Jessica just stared at her, battled. “Wait, you don’t care about that? Seriously?”
“With Jeffrey's personality, he'd rather hurt himself than ever hurt Samuel. Rebecca shared her suspicions. “He
might have done all this on purpose.”
“So what?” Jessica cut in, keeping it real. “True or not, your worry about Samuel was genuine, and you signed
that contract.
Rebecca nodded slowly. “Yeah, you're right.
Jessica looked at Rebecca, visibly concerned. “So, what's your plan now?”
Rebecca was sure Jeffrey would keep her at Rebecca’s Manor. Even if they acted normally in public, things would
feel off between them. And with Andrea popping in now and then to stir up , it was only going to get
messier.
“I've got an idea, but I'll have to wait until my mom wakes up to decide if I'll actually do it,” Rebecca said, still
torn about what to do.
“Honestly, just snag
ly, just snag his credit card and treat yourself,” Jessica said, annoyed. “Bring a couple of hot guys over. chat,
drink. Better yet, spoil them with gifts and drive him crazy.”
If it were her, Jessica wouldn't hesitate. Anyone who ticked her off would get payback, no mercy. She played tit
for tat and refused to put up with anyone's crap.
But seeing Rebecca's expression, Jessica knew all too well that wasn’t Rebecca’s way. Rebecca had her own
principles, and crossing that line wasn’t on her list.
“You know, you do have a point,” Rebecca replied quietly.
Jessica looked at Rebecca like she'd just seen a ghost.
“It's not illegal to just talk and have a drink, Rebecca said thoughtfully. “Do you know any bars where the guys
are easy on the eyes and good at talking?”
Jessica stared, utterly baffled. “You can’t be serious”
Rebecca just nodded. She knew that Jeffrey was only keeping her close because he was still interested.

Chapter 163
4000
Jeffrey’d always hated it when she talked to other guys. Once, at a party, she'd chatted with a stranger for just a
few minites, and when they got home, he’d gotten super clingy, saying he was jealous.
She thought that if he saw her chatting up a whole group of men, he'd probably lose his mind.
Jessica got close and squinted at Rebecca, checking for any sign of a lie. But she found nothing. Rebecca was
dead serious
“So, you really don’t know any?” Rebecca pressed.
“I've got a few spots un mind,” Jessica admitted, still shocked. She knew Rebecca's tastes well and rarely invited
her out like this. “But seriously, you've never been into this scene before.”
“That was then—now | do,” Rebecca replied flatly. She was dead set on blowing everything up with Jeffrey This
was the only way he would finally let go of her.
Back then, she’d wanted to be the one to kick him to the curb. But now, she just wanted out. Whether he got fed
up and dumped her, or she left him, it didn’t matter anymore.
That evening, Rebecca went to the bar Jessica had recommended. Not wanting to drag her friend into this mess,
she made sure to go alone.
Facing a whole row of young, energetic guys, Rebecca felt next to nothing. Still, she held up Jeffrey’s credit card
and said, “Whoever has the smoothest talk tonight, I'll cover your whole monthly drink quota.”
The guys all jumped in at once, talking sweetly and gently. The way they looked at Rebecca-like she was the love
of their lives-almost made her laugh.
Rebecca wasn’t into any of that. It was way too flattering, way too fake. But for the sake of her show, she went
all in, covering the monthly quota for a dozen guys, her smile forced and her happiness totally an act.
“Go ahead; swipe it,” Rebecca said, handing over Jeffrey's card.
As soon as the charges hit, Jeffrey’s phone blew up with over a dozen transaction alerts-all of them from the
sbar. He immediately called Barry, the guy he'd sent to keep tabs on Rebecca, “What's Rebecca doing right
now?”
Barry paused. “Trust me, boss, you probably don’t want to know.”
Jeffrey stayed stone-faced. “Talk.”
Barry quickly snapped a photo. In it, Rebecca sat across from a whole row of handsyoung men, all grinning,
raising their glasses in a toast, their faces lit with barely hidden delight.
“Mrs. Hanson is hanging out with a bunch of guys half your age, drinking and chatting away, Barry reported,
sending the picture over. “They really know how to sweet-talk, flattering her nonstop and keeping her in high
spirits
Jeffrey frowned.

Barry, daring as ever, kept going “Man, looks like you might actually be getting kicked off your theo
Jeffrey looked at the photo of Rebecca raising her glass, his gaze growing darker. “How many has she had
“She hasn't even finished one,” Barry said, totally sure. “She just barely sips at it. Can't even tell the drink’s
gone down
Jeffy stood up, grabbed his keys, and walked out. “Keep watching her. If she starts getting drunk, get her out,
fast. I'm on my way.”
