swear | have the most irritating wolf! Maybe wandering around a dimly lit packhouse | am unfamiliar with was
not the greatest idea in the world... My heart was pounding in my chest as | turned down one of the adjoining
corridors, to where | believed the library was. Thankfully, as | pushed the third door I tried open, | found the
library, my idea of heaven in a room. Shelves upon shelves of books line the walls. | was not a girl that needed
expensive gifts, no... just a new book and | was happy... | quickly turned the larger light on, and walked into the
room, in awe at the many shelves of books. | could spend hours here! | began to look along the shelves, Akira
soon losing interest and curling up in the back of my mind, likely for a nap. Reading was definitely my thing and
not hers.. 19.12% slid the ladder which was attached to the shelves to allow access to the higher shelves on the
wall further along, so I could climb up to see what was on the higher shelves. | was beginning to wish | had come
to explore the library earlier in my spare days... As | stood at the top of the ladder I could see sgood books,
and | leaned a little further to be able to reach one, but as | did, the ladder shuddered a little, causing my foot to
slip. As my foot slipped, my whole body began to tumble downward in one big jumbled mess. Tseemed to

Akira had been partially alert and had helpedland in such a way that | had landed on my butt rather than my
neck or anywhere else that would cause serious injury, because falling from that high up could have caused
sserious injury. But still the pain radiating up my back was not
nice... | sat myself up, rubbing my back. Want to do that again?’ Akira giggled. ‘Pi** off.” | grumbled, not
appreciating the fact my weird wolf would find it funny | had fallen. She should be trying to helpheal! ‘That
hurt.” ‘Aren’t you supposed to land on your feet?’ she was still giggling. ‘Pretty sure that is a cat. Now shut up,
you are not funny. My back is killing.” | complain, as | rub where my back hurts. ‘Be glad | helped, or else you'd

the library door opened, makingjump, and my eyes darted toward it in shock. Who would that be at this time
of night? Beta Asher rushed in, looking concerned. “Oh it is you!” he said, bluntly. Before he appeared to be
taking in that | was on the floor, surrounded by a number of books. “Are you okay?” “Yep. All good.” | muttered.
‘Is he just s**d?’ Akira joined in for good measure now. Just what | needed. ‘Surely he can see you are hurt?” |
decided to ignore her. Not needing her input right now. He suddenly walked over to me. “Did you fall, Bailey? |
heard a loud bang.” | saw him looking at the ladder, then down to me. | raised my brows at him and gave him a
sarcastic half smile, as if to tell him to work it out himself. Surely he wasn’t that s**d, was she? “Why are you in
here at this tof night? And for that matter, why are you climbing a ladder with socks on?” he said in the most
patronizing tone ever, leaning down to try to helpup, offeringhis hand, which I ignored. Yes, | knew it
hadn’t been the smartest idea in the world attempting to climb the ladder in the slipper socks | had on my feet,
but there were books up there... books | wanted to see... books that | may want to read... and | didn’t have shoes

assistance, and take his help to stand up, feeling a little unsteady on my feet, almost falling over. “Woah.” Beta
Asher instantly h**d his arm around my waist. “Right, cand sit down on the sofa.” He helpedwalk to one
the many sofas within the library. He softly helpedsit down, before sitting down next to me, and | could now
feel his eyes looking at me. | felt uncomfortabl under his gaze, yet | slowly raised my eyes to meet his. “I am

seriously, how far up the ladder were you?” “The top.” “Shit, Bailey. Maybe | should get you checked at the
hospital.” he mumbled. “I didn’t hit my head. Stop stressing. | am still alive. You don’t get rid ofthat easily.” |
