Chapter 1291:

He turned back, narrowing his eyes.

He then recognized her—she was one of Linda's fans who had caused trouble for Hadley before.

Was she employed here?

What were the odds?

It was reasonable enough; people had jobs. Still, an odd, unsettling feeling gnawed at him, one he couldn't quite

place.

After a brief pause, he pulled out his phone and dialed. “Phillips, it's me.”

Arriving at Hadley’s room, he learned she had already left for the film set. As the lead actress, she had to be

there early for makeup, a routine that demanded extra time.

Eric's expression tightened, and he set off for the set without delay.

When he arrived, Chelsey spotted him and hurried over. “Mr. Scott.”

Eric gave a curt nod. “Has Hadley had anything to eat?”

“Not yet,” Chelsey admitted, shaking his head.

“| picked up sfood for her, but she didn’t seem interested. She mentioned she would just grab a bite later.”

Eric's face clouded over.

Hadley skipped breakfast again?

Eric could almost picture Hadley nibbling on a dry piece of toast, struggling to get it down.

Turning to Chelsey, he said, “You don’t have to worry about her breakfast—I’ll handle it. Go take care of your

other tasks.”

“Yes, sir,” Chelsey replied, and left.

Eric walked off as well. When he returned, he was carrying an insulated lunch box and strolled straight into the

dressing room as if he belonged there.

The security and crew greeted him warmly, none of them stopping him. Inside, Hadley had just finished her

makeup.

Feeling a pang of hunger and noticing Chelsey was gone, she picked up her phone to call her.

Before she could dial, Eric walked in, pulled out a chair beside her, and set the lunch box on the dressing table.

He smiled. “Hungry?”

Hadley blinked at him in surprise.

“I ran into your assistant,” he explained as he opened the lunch box. “She said you hadn't eaten yet.”
