Chapter 331 Charlotte stared out the window for a long time, making no move to get out of the car. The man beside her turned and asked, "You're not going in to take a look?" She pulled her gaze back. “No need. This isn't my hanymore." "It's still the place you grew up." She gave a faint, almost dismissive smile. "Everyone's gone. It's just an empty house now. There's nothing left forto miss." Evander watched her for a while before speaking again. “And Hiram? Your little brother-don't you miss him either?"- Charlotte hesitated, the words catching in her throat. Then she snapped, impatient, "You were talking about the house!" He smiled, brushing his fingers lightly through the ends of her hair. "Once Hiram gets better and comes back to the city, your foster father's house will go back to its rightful owner. You won't have to worry about any of those Sterling relatives trying to snatch it away again." She froze for a moment, turning to look at him. "What did you do to them?" He only smiled, leaving the question unanswered.
Natalie spoke up for him. "Adelaide's business with Alistair went under. Alistair racked up loan shark debts from gambling, and now Adelaide's divorcing him. Their whole family is in chaos-trust me, they don't have the bandwidth to go after anyone else right now." Charlotte lowered her eyes, pressing her lips together before speaking softly, "Do you remember when my father borrowed two hundred thousand from you?" She was asking Evander directly.

"Back then, my uncle was gambling too-he owed a mountain of debt but couldn't let my aunt find out, so he cto my father for help. He needed two hundred thousand, just like that. I didn't know at the tthat my father got that money from you." Evander's face turned to stone, and silence fell between them.
"It was because of that money, wasn't it?" Charlotte's voice was calm, almost detached. "That's when you decided I was just another woman who'd do anything for money and power. Back then you said you despised our family's greed-" "Enough." Evander's breath was ragged. The shadows inside the car threw his features into sharp relief, his expression dark and unreadable.
Those old accusations and wounds, brought up again, felt like scars being torn open-salt in the wound, bitter medicine forced down his throat.
His chest rose and fell. "Which hotel are you staying at? I'll take you back." Evander meant what he said. No , no arguments.
Natalie pulled up in front of the hotel. Before Charlotte could get out, Evander caught her wrist, his voice low and rough. "Charlotte, the dinner was with Sean. Not her." She pulled her hand free. "I know." Back in her room, Charlotte leaned against the door at last and let herself exhale.
If she hadn't brought up the past-she wasn't even sure she would have made it back at all.

What is it?” "What blood type are you and your mom?"
Wesley sounded surprised, then let out a small laugh. "O negative. My dad and granddad are both Rh negative you know, the rare one-but I didn't inherit it. Why do you ask?" "No reason. Just curious. Don't worry, Wesley, I'll let you go." After hanging up, Charlotte's expression darkened.
She quickly dialed Vera.
It didn't take long for Vera to answer, "Charlotte?"
"Vera, could you look into the file for Mr. Donovan's daughter in the ward? See if you can find out her blood E n type." "No problem, leave it to me!" 3/3
