"Xavier said he'll get to the bottom of it and givean explanation," Lily said.
"Even if he found out that Sarah was behind this, would he have the heart to punish her?" Maryanne asked, clearly dubious.
Her distrust in Xavier stung Lily. In fact, this was also why she was reluctant to talk to him about it.
Soon, the news about Bruce being taken to jail spread. Terence also had his men investigate the matter, and the phone call he'd answered earlier had been about an investigation report from his subordinates.
After the police interrogated him, Bruce confessed everything he'd done to Lily and even exposed Sarah.

Terence hung up and went downstairs to the VIP room. The moment he exited the elevator, he spotted Xavier in the corridor.
Xavier was smoking. His black shirt was wrinkled, and a faint stubble shadowed his jaw he hadn't gone hall night. Even smoking couldn't ease the suffocating weight in his chest.
Noticing that someone had just stepped out of the elevator, he glanced over and happened to meet Terence's gaze.
Xavier's gaze darkened as Terence strode toward him, stopping two yards away. "Nyour terms. What will it take for you to divorce Lily?" This was the first tTerence had even spoken to Xavier so curtly. In the past, he had been worried that his feelings for Lily would bring her trouble. But now, he realized his patience had been meaningless.
She had been suffering far more in the endless torment Xavier had put her through.
"Did she send you?" Xavier narrowed his eyes, a cold glint flashing in them.
"She doesn't know I'm here," Terence replied. No longer intending to hide anything, he continued, "I've loved her for eight years, and she still doesn't know. I was waiting for you two to divorce before confessing to her but I can't wait any longer. I won't let you hurt her again!" Eight years ago, Terence had been 18. Although Lily and Maryanne had been childhood friends, he had never met Lily Raised under a strict academic schedule planned by his parents, he'd had almost noo holidays.
It hadn't been until the day before he'd entered university that he'd seen the young lady Maryanne had mentioned to him countless times-Lily.
It had been love at first sight.
He'd changed his university application and chosen to study design instead, a field she adored.
However, Lily's marriage to Xavier had been a shock.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe night before he'd learned she was getting married, he'd even prepared to confess his feelings to her.
Yet, he'd been one step too late. A single misstep had led to an endless delay. He'd regretted it but had still done nothing because she loved Xavier.
They had met each other multiple times, but she had never spoken to him first. The first tshe'd done it, she'd said, "Terence, welcto my wedding." No one knew how heartbroken he'd felt back then.
Hearing her say those words with his own ears and seeing the smile she'd put on for another man-it had been an excruciating pain that had tormented him for two whole years. The moment Terence had learned she was getting divorced, he'd given up everything abroad and had returned to the country.
For Xavier, no amount of noam evidence-real or fake-could
compare to the weight of Terence's words. Ly had defended the man so many times before, but none of it had ever felt as threatening as these two sentences. A sudden panic gripped him, as if something was slipping away from him.
After a long silence, he suddenly chuckled. Flicking off the ash from here his cigarette, he responded with amusement thick in his tone, "Are you tellingthat you're in love with my wife?"
