Chapter 288:
In the ICU, the silence was only broken by the sound of machines beeping rhythmically. RK sat by Stella's
bedside, holding her hand gently against his face.
“Stella, listen to me, please wake up. You can yell at me, hit me, do whatever you want—just wake up. I'll send
Adrian back, | promise. Just wake up, okay?” His voice cracked with desperation.
He knew how much Adrian meant to her. She had always said Adrian was her reason for living. RK, feeling petty
and jealous of Tristan’s presence, had acted impulsively. Now he regretted everything. If only she would wake up,
he would give anything. He realized how wrong he had been, and now he would bear the consequences,
whatever they might be.
“Stella, why did you do this? Why would you try to end your life? | never thought you'd go this far. You're strong,
you always fought back—you’re not someone who gives up. Why would you jump off a building?” RK’s voice
grew softer, but the room remained as quiet as ever.
He stayed by her side all night. The doctor had told him that if Stella could make it through the next two days,
she would wake up. But if she didn’t, she might fall into a vegetative state.

No matter the outcome, he just wanted her to live. As long as she was safe, he would give her everything she
asked for.
The hours dragged on until RK’s phone rang.
“Hey, RK, | heard you won the custody case. Congrats! But why can’t | reach Stella? Is she ignoring me?” Aden’s
voice sounded lighthearted.
“She tried to end her life.” RK’s words were heavy with grief.
There was silence on the other end for a few seconds.
“The city center hospital,” RK added, then hung up the phone.
Ten minutes later, Aden arrived at the hospital, where he found RK sitting in a chair in the hallway, staring
blankly at Stella's phone in his hand.

“Hey, what's going on? Where's Stella? Is she out of danger yet?” Aden asked, his usual calm replaced by
concern.
“No, she’s still unconscious,” RK’s voice was rough, hoarse from the night spent worrying. When Aden looked
closer, he saw how pale and worn RK looked, as though he hadn't eaten or slept for days.
“Are you okay, RK?” Aden asked, sensing that something was seriously wrong. RK didn’t respond. He continued
to sit there, holding Stella’s phone, lost in thought.
Not long after, Emily arrived. She stood outside the ICU, staring at Stella through the glass window, tears
streaming down her face. She was so overwhelmed that she nearly broke down completely.
“RK, this is all your fault! If you hadn't fought for custody, she would have been fine! Are you happy now? You
pushed her to this point, are you satisfied?!” Emily yelled, her voice filled with raw emotion.
RK remained silent. He didn’t even flinch at her accusation. Emily, furious, wanted to hit him, but Aden quickly
intervened and stopped her.
“Emily, calm down! Let's talk about this after Stella wakes up, alright?” Aden said, trying to keep the peace.
Emily sat down on the other side of the hallway, staring at the floor, too drained to say anything more.
A thick silence fell over them, as if the weight of the situation was too heavy to bear. Then, Stella’s phone rang
again. RK glanced at it and ended the call without saying a word. Moments later, Emily’s phone rang.

“Hello? Yes, this is Emily. Oh, Tristan? Stella hung up on you? No, it wasn’t her. Something happened... She's in
the city center hospital. Yes, it's serious—she’s still in danger.”
Emily hung up, her tears falling onto the floor as she sat there, her emotions drained. Aden handed her a tissue,
and she took it, wiping her face.
The tension and sorrow in the hallway were unbearable. Emily, exhausted from crying, leaned back in her chair,
staring blankly at the ceiling. RK remained hunched over, his elbows resting on his knees, his eyes downcast.
Aden sat in the middle, glancing toward the ICU every few minutes, but none of them said a word.
Then, Tristan arrived. He hurried to the ICU, looked at Stella through the window, then went straight to the doctor
to ask about her condition. After getting the details, he marched toward RK, his fists clenched.
Tristan grabbed RK by the collar, pulling him up from his chair. He raised his fist, ready to strike, but RK didn’t
resist. His indifference only made Tristan angrier.
“RK, are you even human?! Are you happy now that you've driven her to this? What's your problem? Can't you
just leave her alone?!” Tristan shouted, his fist trembling in the air.
“It’s not your place to decide whether | leave her alone or not,” RK replied coldly.
Aden quickly stepped in and separated them before the situation could escalate. Once again, the four of them
sat in silence, the weight of Stella's fate pressing down on all of them.
