Chapter 650 She was sure of one thing: Everett truly loved Mateo. Yasmine's little ? Well, Everett might not

have played a part in it, but that didn't mean he was off the hook! If he hadn't been so wishy-washy, Yasmine

wouldn't have thought she stood a chance and gone to such outrageous lengths to get tangled up with him. He

couldn't offer Selena and Mateo a stable, happy life, and honestly, he shouldn't have gotten involved in the first

place, turning them into targets for others. This mess was the first, but it definitely wouldn't be the last.

Tears welled up in Selena's eyes, her gaze blazing with resentment. She blamed Everett for getting involved, for

wanting it all, and for constantly shielding other women while hurting his own wife and child. A mother's strength

is fierce, and Yasmine was skating on thin ice. There was no way Selena would let that slide!

"Selena."

She hadn't noticed when he got so close, but there he was, looking at her with surprise and concern. He saw the

tears clinging to her long lashes. "What's wrong? Why are you crying?" he asked softly, gently pulling her into his

arms and brushing her cheeks with his thumb.

His voice was so gentle, as if he were handling something fragile. "Who upset you? Tell me, and I'll sort it out."

Selena buried her face in his chest, her hands clenching instinctively. If she could, she'd knock ssense into

this clueless man and send him packing. But instead, she took a deep breath, forcing down the storm of

emotions. In no time, she regained her cool, pushed against his chest, and stepped back. Her voice still had a

hint of a sob, but her expression was now cold. "It's none of your business." With those icy words, she turned and

went back inside.

The colder and more distant she was, the more Everett found himself drawn to her his dark eyes tracking her

every move. They hadn't seen each other in days, and her belly had grown. He wanted to be by her side, but she

wasn't giving him the chance. Holding her, even for that fleeting moment, was something he savored. But when

she pulled away, a vast emptiness engulfed him, gnawing at his heart. Everett glanced at his empty hands and

sighed softly before following her inside. Today was his day to see his son. Usually, he'd pick up Mateo and head

out, bringing him back in the evening. But the image of Selena crying in the garden stuck with him, and he

couldn't shake the worry that something was wrong.

Selena was stubborn and didn't cry easily, so anything that brought her to tears was rare... Everett called Alex to

check in, but was assured everything was normal. The baby was healthy, Mateo was fine, and Setena had been

mostly keeping to herself.

After hanging up, his worry didn't ease; instead, he frowned even more. Selena had struggled with depression

before, and though she was doing better now, pregnancy made her sensitive and prone to anxiety. He worried

she might relapse.

In times like these, having her husband around would make a big difference, but he had lost that privilege.

However, Everett wasn't one to back down. If there wasn't an opportunity, he'd make one.

When Mateo bounded down the stairs, Everett scooped him up with a grin. "Hey, Mateo, how about we skip

going out for dinner today? Daddy's learned snew recipes. How about | cook for us at home?" Mateo

worshipped his dad and was always up for anything he suggested.
