And why-why did he have to hear it right when | was trying to let him go for good?

If it had been before, if he could've understood and accepted my feelings, | would've been over the moon. But
now? Hearing my most pathetic, lovesick ramblings? | just wanted to go back in tand slap myself- twice!

Alpha Henry's laughter lashed at my nerves like a whip.

Burning with shand fury, | couldn’t hold back Ella’s alpha-grade power any longer. With an explosive move, |
flipped us over, trying to wrestle it from him-but the guy’s all limbs, and even then, I still couldn't. get it.
He didn’t seem to notice anything strange. He just laughed louder, like he'd stumbled on something wildly

eyes sharp. Sometimes | seriously wonder if she wishes Aubrey were her actual daughter instead of
me.
| snapped back to the moment and stood. “No.”
“You'd better not have,” she said with a frown. “I already spoke with your father. He agrees-Aubrey should be
our foster daughter. From now on, she’s your sister. You need to learn how to protect her.”
A sister again. Why the hell does everyone-her included-keep forcing that label on her?
“I've got things to do.” | yanked the terrace door open. My bones cracked as silver-gray furupted over my body-
