Chapter 1458: Cedric tugged his collar higher and fastened the top button, his face shadowed and unreadable as midnight.

He reached for Carol's phone and addressed the anxious group, saying, "No need for reinforcements." A wave of relief passed over Nikolas and Damon, their tense shoulders finally relaxing.

But Cedric's next words shattered their calm. "I'll handle this myself." The realization hit Nikolas like a bolt of lightning-Cedric wasn't just anyone; he was the Lone Wolfs leader.

A chill ran through him.

This was bad. His father had provoked the wrong couple.

Rain struck the windows that day, heavy and relentless.

In his room, Cedric swapped out his clothes for a black ensemble, blending into the stormy gloom. Pulling the hood over his head, he paused just long enough to tell Carol, “I'll only be gone an hour. Make sure nothing happens here." Without a backward glance, he slipped out into the raging night, leaving only the retreating glow of his car's taillights to pierce the darkness.

Alexander lay in his hospital bed, hooked up to an IV, his battered body aching from the concussion and shattered leg. Bruises mapped his skin, but his eyes, ringed with exhaustion, glinted with a feverish excitement as he stared out the window. He could practically taste it.

He'd almost had Daniela-almost managed to undress her, almost claimed what he'd wanted for so long.

Even with blood loss draining his strength, a rush of satisfaction surged through him.

He hadn't expected her to be so defenseless, so easily undone.

Пiew romov, Daniela, who always met him with cold detachment, had crumbled into helplessness up on that rooftop.

Without the tranquilizer, she was completely fragile.

The memory made his pulse race with sick delight.

In that raw, unfiltered moment, he convinced himself he still had a chance to win her back. Just one more try.

All he needed was a single opening to pull Daniela back to his side.

He would claim her for himself.

Once she was his, Cedric would drown in remorse, tormented by guilt until it destroyed him. With Cedric out of the picture, he could finally have Daniela all to himself.

Suddenly, a violent gust tore the hospital door open, rattling it against the wall. Inside, the overhead lights sputtered, casting jagged shadows as they dimmed, while the hallway outside vanished into darkness.

Alexander's smirk froze mid-formation, his features om sharpening with alarm as he made out a shadowy figure standing in the doorway. He strained his eyes, heart thudding as recognition hit.

"Cedric?" he gasped.
