Sophia leaned her head slightly, her gazepletely fixed on Theresa's face, her eyes calm and gentle.

Brandon, though not directly facing her eyes, could clearly see the serene tenderness in her expression as she watched Theresa,

her face softly lit by the lamp.

imbued with a unique gentleness reserved just for her.

It had been a long tsince Brandon had seen this side of Sophia, and he found himself momentarily entranced.

Sophia only snapped out of her reverie when a dull ache crept into her arm. She had been so engrossed in watching Theresa that

she had temporarily otten Brandon was lying behind her. Instinctively, she stretched her slightly sore back, withdrew her hand

from under her head, and shifted to lie flat. As she turned, her eyes met Brandon's, who was quietly watching her.

Her movement froze instantly.

His eyes met hers.

His gaze was calm yet unfathomably deep, like the night sky, drawing her in and holding her captive.

"Theresa... is asleep," Sophia managed to say, breaking the tension-filled silence, still half-turned.

Brandon replied softly, but his eyes never wavered from hers.

Sophia found herself struggling to withstand such a gaze.

She awkwardly tugged at her lips, carefully pushing aside the covers to get up, when Brandon suddenly leaned toward her.

Sophia halted, her eyes widening as his handsface ccloser, her breath instinctively catching in her throat.

His fingers gently brushed her forehead, tidying the stray locks of her hair.

She held her breath, her eyes following his fingertips, wide and unblinking.

Brandon glanced at her, and as his hand slipped into her hair, he suddenly leaned down and kissed her.

Sophia's grip on the blanket tightened.
