“Who are you people?” Madeline quickly stood up, shielding Olivia, and said to Shawn with a sharp tone and

stern look.

She thought to herself, ‘How could a bunch of strangers just walk into our house?”

Once they were out of the audience’s sight, Shawn dropped his gentle act.

Hearing her question, he gave her a cryptic smile. “No need to be nervous, Mrs. Clark.

“There's a birthday party downstairs, and Mr. Turner wants everyone to ctogether for

he occasion.”

Madeline frowned at his words. “The party downstairs is still going on?”

to protect Noel and Olivia's reputations.

Seeing that she had completely forgotten the purpose of the evening, Shawn had to remind her. “Mrs. Clark, you

must be joking.

to waver.
